Before Sterling Works of Art became known for exceptional hand-cut gemstones, Art Strom began his journey as a jewelry maker. Fifteen years ago, Art created jewelry using stones sourced from other talented lapidarists, but his curiosity led him deeper into the craft. He trained in the art of cutting and polishing stones himself, discovering a new passion and a new way to bring his creativity to life.

Today, as a retired full-time artist, Art has the freedom to explore every part of the creative process — from rough stone to finished piece. While his focus has grown around creating unique cabochons, he has returned to jewelry making whenever inspiration strikes.

Art creates jewelry not to compete with the artists and collectors who love his stones, but to celebrate the same joy they share: transforming beautiful natural materials into something meaningful, wearable, and one-of-a-kind.
